The current Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Strategic Plan states the following:

Strategic Direction 2:  Promote and measure high-quality learning programs

• Increase the number of new science and mathematics teachers

Specifically, the goal is to increase the number of new science and mathematics teachers prepared within the system by 115% between FY05 and FY11.

To meet this goal, a number of initiatives are underway.  This includes the "More and Better Mathematics and Science Teaching and Learning" initiative.
